Bead Talk - BLOG

Summer '08

Summer finally arrived in Minnesota, after what seemed like the longest winter on record.  Since then we've all been scrambling to fit in the normal warm-weather activities.  Planting flowers, a strawberry garden, mowing/weeding the lawn, and this year....  taking care of baby chicks!  We have 13 chicks, all living happily in my studio (for the moment).  Their coop is under construction and will be done very soon, I hope!

The coop has been a fun project so far.  As usual, my hubby is making sure it is "done right".  Our chickens will have three windows that open and even have screens.  I'm wondering if they'll get running water!  No really, he's making it very nice with easy access to eggs from the outside.

I can't imagine our little chicks needing that much space.  Right now they're all in a kiddie pool with cage wire around it.  They've grown a lot since we got them two weeks ago... and I suppose it won't be long before they're ready to go out to the coop.

I might have to make some chicken beads in honor of this little flock.

Hope your summer is going well.
